Deliver big video files from your own portal

Video file delivery software moves finished masters, stills and project files to the people who paid for them. MyStdio keeps that library inside the client portal that already holds the project, the review and the invoice, so a delivery is a place your client can go back to rather than a link you keep re-sending.

What video file delivery software actually does

Video file delivery software is how a studio hands over the work: graded masters, social cuts, stills, project files, whatever the contract says. The category covers three jobs that are easy to mistake for one. Getting a very large file up without the browser giving out. Giving the client somewhere to open it. Keeping straight which version they actually have.

A general-purpose transfer tool covers the first job. What a video studio needs on top is the rest of it: a library the client can come back to next month, a portal that carries the studio's own logo and colors, a version history that lives on the file instead of in its filename, and a handover that sits beside the approval and the invoice it belongs to.

Every file in one browser, per client and per project

The same file browser runs your studio-wide library, each client company's files, and the files attached to a single project: folders, grid or list, drag and drop, and a detail pane that opens on any file. The studio and client libraries add a folder tree, tags and favorites.

  • Team, company and project files: Team Files is the studio-wide library, Company Files is what a client sees when they log in, and every project keeps its own Project Files tab.
  • Version history per file: Each file carries its own version history, with a new version uploaded over the old one and any version downloadable on its own. In the studio and client libraries, an earlier version can also be made current again.
  • Bulk move, delete and ZIP: Select a run of files and move them, delete them, or take them away as one ZIP (a ZIP over 2 GB is not available in Safari or Firefox, or on an iPhone or iPad).
  • Uploads from your clients: Your clients can upload into the same folders, so the footage they owe you arrives where the work already lives.

The final files and the final invoice, in the same project

A project can hold its final cut back in the portal while the billing is still open. The cut, the invoice and the download sit in the same place, so nothing has to be sent separately when the work is done.

  • The final video's download gate: A final deliverable video opens to the client once every final invoice on the project is marked Paid. Until then, the portal holds the video back, and a client manager sees its download button marked Locked, with a Payment Required note.
  • Projects billed elsewhere skip it: A project you bill outside MyStdio skips the whole thing, because there is no invoice here to settle.
  • Release a deliverable early: You stay in charge of it: release any single deliverable yourself with one switch, whenever you want it out early.
  • Extra deliverable files: With your deliverable workflow set to On Payment, extra deliverable files are held too while a final invoice is outstanding, and the next final invoice marked Paid releases them; a later refund does not lock a released file again. Otherwise, extra files are downloadable as soon as you add them.

Later in the same project, once the client approves V3.

Send one link. It still works next month.

Share any file from the file browser, with no signup and nothing to install on the other end. A file from your studio or client library opens on a page headed by your logo, where video plays, images show and the file downloads.

  • A project file's link opens a download page with its details, under the same logo, and a second review link adds a comment thread they can post to without an account.
  • You choose per file whether a link is public or password-protected, and a third setting, private, stops it opening for anyone who is not signed in.
  • A file share link has no expiry date. It keeps working until you turn it off.

There is no delivery tier and no per-transfer charge on any plan. What grows with the plan is how much you can keep in the library. Free includes 5 GB of storage and your own logo and colors. Solo starts at $19/month with 1 TB of storage, and Studio takes that to 3 TB. Storage add-ons come in 500 GB blocks at $10/month. All prices are in USD.

Eight things to check in any delivery tool

The first two are about moving bytes. The last six are about everything around the file once it lands.

  • 01

It takes the size of file you actually send

A graded master is not a proxy. MyStdio accepts files up to 50 GB each, and a big one uploaded to the file library from a web browser goes up as parallel parts.

  • 02

One dropped packet does not cost you the whole upload

Uploading to the file library from a web browser, several parts go up at once and each one is retried on its own, with its signature renewed if it expired while queued. A brief connection drop retries the affected part, not the whole file.

  • 03

The files have a home, not just a send

A transfer is an event. A library is a place. Your client opens the same portal next month and the delivery is still sitting in it, next to the project it belongs to.

  • 04

The page your client lands on looks like your studio

Your logo and brand color run through the portal, and your logo heads the page a file share link opens, on every plan, including the free one. On the free plan a small Powered by MyStdio badge appears in the portal, and on every paid plan it comes off.

  • 05

Nobody has to ask which version is current

Versions stack on the file itself. The current one is marked, the older ones stay reachable, and in the studio and client libraries an earlier version can be made current again without re-uploading it.

  • 06

You control who opens a link, and you can take it back

Public, password-protected, or private, chosen per file and enforced on the server rather than in the page. Turn a link off and it stops resolving.

  • 07

    Delivery knows about the money

Handover and billing live in the same project in the same portal, so a deliverable can wait on an outstanding invoice without you policing it by hand.

  • 08

It is the library your team already works in

Not a delivery bolt-on beside the real storage. The browser your editors use for the studio library is the one the client opens, with different folders in front of them.

MyStdio answers yes to all eight.

Three ways to get the files across

Honest take. Each shape solves a real problem, and the right answer depends on what happens after the files land.

Transfer services

WeTransfer, Dropbox Transfer, Smash

Built around the send: pick files, generate a link, hand it over. The unit is an event rather than a place.

  • Fast and familiar
  • The right tool for a one-off

Cloud storage and shared drives

Dropbox, Google Drive, Box

Delivering from one means giving a client a view into the structure a team keeps for itself.

  • A real home for files
  • Organized like your own drive

Client workspaces

The library is one surface of a portal that also carries the project, the review, the quote and the invoice.

  • Big files, part by part
  • Versions on the file, not in the filename
  • Links you stay in control of
  • Handover that knows about billing

How MyStdio hands over the work

Big files, part by part

Files up to 50 GB each. Uploaded to the file library from a web browser, a large one is cut into parts that go up in parallel, and a part whose upload URL expires mid-flight is re-signed and retried. A brief connection drop retries the affected part, not the whole file.

One browser, three places

The studio-wide library, each client company's files, and each project's own Project Files tab are the same browser with different folders in it, so nobody learns a second tool.

Versions on the file, not in the filename

Upload a new cut over the old one and the history stays on the file, with any version downloadable from the same pane. In the studio and client libraries an earlier version can also be made current again.

Links you stay in control of

Public, password-protected, or private, per file, checked on the server. A file share link has no expiry date. It keeps working until you turn it off.

Handover that knows about billing

A final deliverable video opens to the client once every final invoice on the project is marked Paid. Until then the portal holds it, and you can still release any single deliverable yourself.

Files come back the same way

Your clients upload into the same folders you deliver from, so a logo pack or a script revision lands in the project instead of in your inbox.

Common questions

Video file delivery software is how a production studio hands finished work to a client: masters, social cuts, stills and project files, in a place the client can open without installing anything. Beyond moving the bytes, the category covers where the files live afterwards, who is allowed to open them, which version is the current one, and how the handover connects to the approval and the invoice.
Up to 50 GB per file. Uploaded to the file library from a web browser, anything big is split into parts that upload in parallel, and each part is retried on its own if the connection drops, so one bad moment on hotel wifi does not cost you the whole master. Files count against your plan's storage, and MyStdio checks there is room before the upload starts rather than after.
Not for a public or password-protected share link. The link opens a page headed by your logo where they can download the file, and for a video or image in your studio or client library, watch or view it first. A separate review link lets them comment without signing up. A private link asks them to sign in first. A client manager or client user with a portal login gets more than that: their company's whole library and its projects, with the review beside them, and a client manager also sees the billing.
A file share link has no expiry date, so there is nothing to re-send when a client comes back to it weeks later. You stay in control the other way instead: turn the link off and it stops resolving, or put a password on it, or set it to private so it only opens for someone signed in.
Yes, and for a final deliverable video it is how a project behaves by default. A final deliverable video opens to the client once every final invoice on the project is marked Paid. Until then the portal holds the video back, and a client manager sees its download button marked Locked with a Payment Required note. You can still release any single deliverable yourself with one switch. With your deliverable workflow set to On Payment, extra deliverable files are held too while a final invoice is outstanding, and the next final invoice marked Paid releases them; a later refund does not lock a released file again. A project you bill outside MyStdio skips it entirely.
Yes. Client managers and client users can both upload into their company's files and into the Project Files tab of their projects, so brand assets, scripts and reference footage arrive in the same folders you deliver from instead of in an email thread. There is no separate upload portal to set up and nothing for them to install.
From a web browser, a large upload to the file library is sent as parallel parts, so a blip retries the part that failed rather than the whole file, including re-signing that part if its upload URL expired while it waited. Keep the tab open while it runs: MyStdio does not resume an upload after the page is reloaded or closed, and that file has to be started again.
